15 + 1 of the Best Spots for Budapest Brunch

A good brunch can be hard to find. Luckily, I feel like Budapest has a new brunch place popping up every month, not to mention the tried-and-true options we’ve been enjoying for years. Whether you’re exploring Budapest for the first time or just need fresh ideas on where to go with your friends on the weekend, here’s my list of the top 15 brunch spots in Budapest. Enjoy your meal!

Vegan-Friendly Brunch Spots in Budapest

1. Franziska

  • District: I
  • Signature Dish: Strawberry Matcha Bowl

Franziska is my go-to Budapest brunch spot when I have vegan friends in town. With two locations (one in Buda and one in Pest), you can get your Budapest brunch fix on both sides of the river. Their restaurants are bright and colorful, just like their menu! Go for one of their smoothie bowls or for one of their many benedicts. Their brunch runs all-day, so there’s no rush!

    2. Garden Café

    • District: VIII
    • Signature Dish: Belgian Dark Chocolate Pancake

Garden cafe’s menu of vegetarian and vegan brunch has long been a favorite for plant-based brunch lovers. The menu is a mix of savory Turkish staples (I could eat their Çılbır/Turkish eggs every day!) and eye-catching sweets. One of their most popular dishes is the vegan belgian dark chocolate pancake. The other decadent pancakes, including the baklava pancake, are hard to resist!

    3. Twentysix

    • District: VI
    • Signature Dish: Shakshuka with Homemade Bread

I love TwentySix because it always makes you feel like you’re stepping into a secret garden in the middle of the city. Its Mediterranean-inspired dishes are served up under a lush jungle canopy, so you can enjoy your Budapest brunch in a soothing atmosphere that’s flooded with natural light. The shakshuka (with both a classic and vegan option available) is a popular dish for a hearty brunch!

    4. Deryné

    • District: I
    • Signature Dish: Turkish Eggs

Enjoyed by Budapest’s elite and Hollywood’s favorite stars (make sure to take a moment to look at all of the autographed headshots lining the walls), Deryné gives old-school glamour a modern treatment. Each dish is masterfully presented and made with care, making for a luxuriously relaxed brunch. I also love going here because it’s an excuse to walk around the quiet streets of Buda. If you don’t have time to sit down for brunch, pop next door to their bakery and grab one of their homemade pastries to go!

    5. Villa Bagatelle

    • District: XII
    • Signature Dish: Eggs Bagatelle

Brunch in a villa? Don’t mind if I do! If you and your friends want to enjoy a peaceful brunch in an elegant interior, then Villa Bagatelle is your place. Known for their high quality and attentive service, the Villa is a favorite of Budapest’s well-to-do. And don’t worry if you got a late start on the weekend–they serve brunch and breakfast all day.

    6. Café Central

    • District: V
    • Signature Dish: Central Brunch Towers

I simply cannot resist the chance to be surrounded by Old World glamour, can you? While many Budapest visitors flock to the opulent New York Café, I would say the dining experience is far better at the equally historic Café Central (you won’t have to wait in a line that stretches down the block, and the food is better). Opened in 1887, Café Central has all of the glistening brass fixings and lush seating that you’d expect from a coffeehouse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Try one of the their “towers” to have a brunch similar to afternoon tea.

    7. Cookie Beacon Brunch

    • District: VI
    • Signature Dish: Chunky Choco Chip Cookie

Cookie Beacon has a chokehold on the brunchstagrammers of Budapest, and I can see why: their food is lush! From fruity cookie-berry bowls to chunky filled cookies the size of your fist to fluffy pancake stacks, Cookie Beacon Brunch is a place to go when you want to honor your sweet tooth with an all-day brunch. Just be prepared to wait in line! And if it’s too long, head next door to Blueberry Brunch instead.

    8. Á La Maison Grand

    • District: V
    • Signature Dish: Croque Madame

If you like your brunch with a side of white marble and porcelain accents, you’ll enjoy Á La Maison Grand. French-inspired food is the name of the game, all with a side of specialty coffee. Settle in with a cappucino and fluffy croissant or one of their Croque Madames–just don’t forget to snap a picture first!

    9. Nor/Ma Grand

    • District: V
    • Signature Dish: Scandinavian Breakfast

As someone who spent a magical semester in Copenhagen, I love coming to the Scandinavian style Nor/Ma Grand. Sitting on the edge of Millenaris Park on the Buda side, it’s popular among those who enjoy a view of nature with their coffee. I cannot emphasize enough how much I love their baked goods! You’ll probably see a lot of Nor/Ma’s pastries on display in other cafes in Budapest, that’s how good they are. Their Scandi-style breakfasts center around porridge or salmon, but the real star is their beautiful selection of cakes on display–they always have delectable vegan options, as well!

Cozy and Casual Brunch Spots in Budapest

    10. Törökméz

    • District: II
    • Signature Dish: Eggs Benedict

Tucked behind a hilly corner in Buda, you have to put in a little work to get here, but I’m always happy to walk up the hill to Törökméz. Even though it gets quite busy (it’s quite popular with the Buda crowd), the outdoor patio still manages to give it a relaxed atmosphere. And I would brave the crowd for their menu, anyways: they have one of the best eggs benedicts in Budapest.

    11. Stika

    • District: VII
    • Signature Dish: Eggs Benedict with Pulled Pork

Stika has always been a chic brunch staple of the Budapest’s 7th district. Along with being very popular, this fashionable breakfast restaurant is also on the smaller side, so you may need to wait in line on the weekends. If you’re lucky, grab a window seat so that you can watch the city go by as you dive into one of their variations on eggs benedict.

    12. London Coffee Society

    • District: VII
    • Signature Dish: Breakfast Burrito

This pocket-sized Budapest brunch place is always buzzing, and for good reason. Their dishes are hearty (no dainty brunch portions here), and of course, the coffee is up to par. You might snag an upstairs spot, but honestly, I think it’s more atmospheric to grab one of the streetside tables as you dive into your avocado toast, especially during the warmer months. Also, make sure to check their display case–there are always some tasty baked goods on rotation.

    13. DoubleShot Coffee & Brunch

    • District: V
    • Signature Dish: Pulled Pork Eggs Benedict

Colorful and cozy at the same time, Double Shot is one of my favorite Budapest brunch spots in the 5th district. If you’re lucky enough to grab a seat, you can enjoy your meal in front of one of the explosively colorful murals. The portions are never skimpy and there are some plant-based options that diversify the menu. And since it’s tucked a few streets back from Fővam Square, it’s a great starting point for a weekend morning walking around one of Budapest prettiest neighborhoods.

    Bottomless Brunch Restaurants in Budapest

    14. DNB Mariott

    • District: V

One of the longest-running bottomless brunches in Budapest, the DNB puts on Sunday brunch with a view. I love going here during the summer when the dining room is flooded with light and you can watch people go about their day on the Danube promenade. Of all of the bottomless brunches, I find the DNB has the best variety, and everything is cooked to perfection. It’s perfect for a weekend treat! Reservations are strongly encouraged.

    15. Kimpton Bem Bottomless Champagne Brunch

    • District: II

A bottomless brunch in one of Budapest newest and most luxurious hotels, the bottomless brunch and beats at the Kimpton keeps the bubbles flowing while a DJ plays in the background. The Kreinbacher bubbles may be the star of the show, but the food deserves a moment in the spotlight. So varied and delicious!

    16. Corinthia Advent Brunch (Seasonal)

    • District: VII

I love doing anything at the Corinthia (it’s one of the most gorgeous hotels in the city!), and brunch is no exception. They put on a festive brunch every Sunday of the Advent season (reservations are required), and it’s a great way to make merry (and avoid the need for cooking). Starting with a seated appetizer course, you’re then able to enjoy the carving station, seafood buffet, huge dessert table, and more.

Find Your Perfect Brunch in Budapest

As you can see, there’s no shortage of options for a Budapest brunch date. May your stacks of pancakes be high and your hollandaise flow freely. Have so much fun finding your favorite breakfast & brunch spot in Budapest!
