Well. It was only a matter of time. Someone in Budapest opened up a whimsical museum dedicated solely to taking selfies.
The Museum of Sweets and Selfies is a museum where you get to be the centerpiece, the main work of art. It’s called a “selfie” museum, but I didn’t see anyone going at it on their own–there’s lots of opportunities where you’ll want to ask someone to grab a shot of you, if you didn’t come with anyone to begin with. I feel like I got an even better deal because I got to team up with Nicky of Nicky Burkert Photography and get some pictures that captured the fun. Read on to see some of her pics and to catch a glimpse inside this museum of sugar-fueled dreams.

Walking through the museum is an interesting environment, for sure. Here, everyone is of a like mind. There’s no embarrassment in raising your phone to take a selfie, no shame for trying to take the same picture from a seventh different angle (although, let’s use some etiquette and try to take less than 10 minutes for a shot, shall we?). Everyone has that same fevered glow in their eye as they see a bright backdrop and envision the perfect pic.

Aside from the Insta-enabled, there were also families and kids squealing with delight–that’s the fun part, you really get to feel like a kid in some fantastical world (especially when you come face to face with the unicorn).

Some scuffs on the walls and slightly battered props show the incredible traffic that comes through–the museum is enthusiastically loved by many. I think it’s a great way to spend an afternoon. “Interactive museum” used to mean like, spinning a wheel to measure electricity voltage. And now it means posing in a room of suspended teacups. Go figure. I’m not complaining, though!
Just posing for my Disney Channel promo Care for a cup of tea?
If you’re wondering how to get to the MOSAS, just follow the sprinkles. No…really. One of the most high-traffic exhibits is a pool of sprinkles, and there’s no way to frolic around in there without collecting a few (trust me, haha). Thus, there’s a semi-strong trail of sprinkles on the streets leading to/from the museum.
Just a casual sprinkle nap
In the end, walking through the rooms is as electrifying as a sugar rush! Be sure to check out MOSAS the next time that you’re in Budapest!
