This weekend, I took a chance.
And by “take a chance”, I mean that I met up with a stranger from social media and hoped that I wouldn’t get kidnapped or anything. Thankfully, Ashley of theashtreejournal is delightful, and meeting up with her to shoot photos was the same.
It turns out we were both craving some autumn colors, so we met at Heroes’ Square and headed into Budapest’s City Park (Városliget).
Városliget is already striking with a thermal bath and a castle sprinkled throughout, but the changing leaves positively lit it up, as Ashley and I soon found out.
I’m starting to learn that collaborations are like Tinder dates. You start to get nervous, wondering if the two of you will vibe or if it’ll just be awkward. You’re unsure of exactly what the other person wants (like, are they trying to make creative friends, or do they just want someone to snap that angle they can’t manage on their own?). And you’re never quite sure if you’re going to follow through (we both laughed about pushing through sickness and exhaustion to meet up).
Only recently have I started to reach out to others through social media with the purpose of creating something, and I’m loving the connections that are the result. Because it means more afternoons sharing ideas with people like Ashley–people who are going after their vision. It means having rich conversation and sipping mulled wine and encouraging each other towards your goals.
And it can also mean frolicking through crunchy leaves. So no regrets there.
