I don’t know what it is about fall that makes me think of Harry Potter. Is it that it’s the perfect series for a snuggly movie marathon? Or that I still think that a sexy Snape would make the perfect Halloween costume? Whatever the reason, I’m happy to report that there are a range of Harry Potter activities in Budapest. Are you ready for the magic? Grab your broomstick and let’s go!
Activities
Escape Rooms
Solving one of these immersive puzzles in under 60 minutes can sure seem like magic. Escape rooms are one of my favorite Budapest activities, and fit the bill whether you’re going out with friends, showing family around town, or looking for a different kind of date night. Children’s Railway
We know it’s not quite the Hogwarts Express, but if you’d like to puff through picturesque autumn hills on a historic train, then the Children’s Railway is for you!
Looking for a castle to fill that Hogwarts-shaped hole in your heart? You can always book a Buda Castle tour! (Use code “didi” for 5% off!) And Vajdahunyad Castle has become well known for its romantic architecture and solemn statues. I’ve always thought this sprawling castle was one of Budapest’s most magical locations–I wouldn’t be surprised if you stumbled across a little magic here!
Harry Potter Themed Food/Drink
Good news if you’re looking for a Harry Potter restaurant in Budapest: I’m going to tell you about two! The only thing better than magic? Magic that you can eat! (I do love an immersive experience.)
Repülő Seprű (the Flying Broom)
I cannot describe to you the joy I felt upon walking into the Flying Broom–I felt as if I had entered a cozy pub in Hogsmeade! Don a robe, grab one of the magic wands, and choose your order from one of the Howler menus (and yes–there’s butterbeer!). While you’re waiting for your drinks to arrive, take a look around at the cages of pixies or floating candles. And if you play your cards right, you could even get your face put on one of the “Public Enemy #1” posters. Sirius Black is about to have some seriously good company.
Watch the experience here!
Take a trip to Hogwarts when you step into The Magic! Their extensive menu has plenty of Harry Potter-themed food to keep even the hungriest troll satisfied. And you’ll spend half your time looking around at the detailed decorations, anyways! The restaurant even has a partnership with Magic Rooms, so if you’d like to play an escape room, they can help you out!
So really, it’s not hard to find Harry Potter in the amazing city of Budapest, especially as we get deeper into autumn. Summon your inner witch or wizard and get ready for a magical experience!
Have a spellbound time!
