Spending a weekend in Belgium is quickly becoming one of my winter traditions! Whether traveling there solo or in a couple, it’s a great place to indulge in tasty street food–some of which can be quite inexpensive! And the sights are nothing short of magical during Christmas!
It’s tricky to decide what to do when you only have 48 hours to explore a place, but this time, we opted to spend most of our weekend in Belgium on a day trip to Bruges. I’ve heard that Bruges looks like a fairy tale city anyways, but it looked even more charming frosted with its Christmas decorations and markets. We only had one afternoon in Bruges, but we hit all the main things on our list: chocolate, waffles, and fries! (I now see what food-centered travelers we are, haha).
Bruges Eats Cheat Sheet:
Fries: Chez Vincent
Chocolate: Pur Chocolat
Waffles: I Love Waffles
Despite a ridiculously delayed train, we still made it back from Bruges in time to discover Brussel’s Christmas lights and eat a traditional Belgian dinner (stoemp —sausages and mashed potatoes–is my new fave)!
We found some solid places to experience the Belgian staples while in Bruges, and they actually weren’t too expensive! Check out my Weekend in Belgium vlog below for a price guide on the best places to hit up in Bruges!
