Budapest is a center of budget travel around Europe, and the most cost-effective way to go between the city and airport is the Budapest Airport Bus 100E (don’t confuse this with bus 200E, which also goes to the airport, but indirectly) . One of my biggest reasons for moving to Budapest to teach English was so that I could travel Europe. This airport-to-city center bus service has connected me to trips to Prague, Portugal, and Spain–and hopefully more in the future! If you’re planning to travel to Budapest and want to know a cheap way to get into the city, read on! And check out the vlog below for more info!
Quick Facts:
Where: The bus goes from
Deak Ferenc Square–>Astoria–>Kalvin Square–>Liszt Ferenc Airport
Word of warning: I’ve been on multiple busy buses where the bus fills up at Deak and doesn’t stop at the other stops. So I’d suggest catching the bus at Deak.
When: The bus leaves every 15-20 minutes.
From the airport: 05:00-01:20
From the city center: 03:40-00:40
The journey takes about 30 minutes without traffic and 45-60 minutes with traffic.
How much: A one way ticket costs 900 HUF/$3. You can buy them at any purple transportation kiosk, on the online application, or on the bus. You must buy the specific airport ticket, as a normal one way ticket or transportation pass won’t work for the airport bus.
